Humus San Pío winner of the BID World Quality Commitment International Star Award in Paris
Paris hosted the International World Quality Commitment Award to reward highly-qualified professionals currently involved in big projects, whose decisions affect millions of people around the world and whose work meets the criteria of the ISO 9000 and the QC100 TQM model. All of them were present at the 2011 BID Quality Award.



Ivan Mauricio Alvarez Garrido, Cesar Enrique Alvarez Garrido y Octavio Alberto Alvarez Garrido of Humus San Pío, a leading company in its sector and in Colombia, proudly accepted the BID World Quality Commitment International Star Award at the International Quality convention in Paris. This bustling French city was the perfect setting for the meeting of those companies and their leaders who are dedicated to quality and innovation; two key requirements for receiving the Business Initiative Directions Quality Award. The best representatives from 49 countries gathered in Paris, home of important international organizations, staged the most important international business recognition award.
Another BID award winner in Paris was Banco de la República Oriental del Uruguay (BROU), from Uruguay. The Banco de la República Oriental del Uruguay is the leading financial entity of the country as well as the largest in terms of overall market share, which has continued to grow ever since its founding in 1886. Presently it employs over 4,000 persons and maintains a network throughout the country of 124 branches, 215 ATM’s and 400 points of access. It also has international presence in Sao Paulo, New York and Buenos Aires.



Company SAPSAN from Russia is a leading company in the construction sector, carrying out 700 residential building projects throughout the country. Currently, it is involved with building and managing the construction of 15 buildings each month, making a total of over 50,000 sq. meters per year. Its innovation and level of technology, adapted to the harsh climate conditions in northern territories, coupled with the use of top quality material imported from Western Europe and the U.S., make this company on the the highest qualified of its sector in the Russian Federation and for this reason it was recognized with the BID Quality Award.


Dubai Police Headquarter, from United Arab Emirates is considered one of the most progressive police forces in the world, the government body maintains the highest quality standards. It has 15,000 members and its work is based on education, respect, and implementation of the QC100 TQM model. Police Dubai Police is the first Arab country to use an electronic fingerprinting system and the first Arab government to apply the concept of "clean desk policy", which is an electronic document management system.


INTER, from Venezuela, provides cable television, internet and telephone services to over 1,200,000 customers in 70 cities throughout Venezuela. Currently it has a network of more than 14,000 km of optical fibre and is present in over 70 cities and more than 1,200,000 households.


Karafarin Insurance Company, from Iran is the top private insurance company in Iran. This customer-satisfaction and quality-driven company with branches throughout Iran and with plans to expand, has a total capital of more than $200 million USD.


Among these winners from around the world was Centre for Content Creation, from Malaysia, a multimedia development unit within the framework of Limkokwing University of Creative Technology. Centre for Content Creation is a nucleus in the development of the creative digital content industry in Malaysia. It is designed to help and inspire artists, scientists and the general public to optimize the opportunities in content creation and commercialization.


Other companies on the list of winners in Paris were Hoa Sen Group, from Vietnam, operating in the fields of iron & steel, building materials, real-estate, financial investment and marine port & logistics; as well as Afri-Bond, from Nigeria, which offers free customer service to negotiate with banks in order to obtain the most interesting financial conditions for its clients, thus saving time and bureaucratic details when it comes to transacting with entities.


The companies honored in Paris were recognized not only for their entrepreneurial achievements, but also for their dedication to continuous improvement and innovation, abiding by the principles of the QC100 Total Quality Management Model.
